Tchaggo é um multiartista radicado em Curitiba (PR), cuja prática artística se fundamenta na observação atenta do cotidiano e na transformação dessas vivências em obras visuais. Com atuação voltada principalmente para a ilustração e a pintura em tela, o artista desenvolve uma linguagem autoral marcada pela recorrente representação das mãos, elemento que se consolidou como uma assinatura visual em seu trabalho. Em suas obras, os personagens apresentam mãos desproporcionalmente grandes, utilizadas como principal meio de expressão e comunicação simbólica.
Como artista negro, Tchaggo estabelece um compromisso consistente com a representação da diversidade racial, explorando de forma sensível e intencional os diferentes tons de pele negra. Sua produção dialoga com experiências pessoais e referências culturais, ao mesmo tempo em que se abre para uma leitura ampla, convidando o público à reflexão sobre identidade, alteridade e representatividade.
O ensaio fotográfico teve como objetivo documentar o espaço de trabalho do artista, registrar aspectos de seus processos criativos e produzir imagens de suas obras para uso em materiais promocionais, entrevistas, redes sociais e plataformas digitais. A abordagem visual combinou planos abertos, médios e detalhes, buscando traduzir tanto o ambiente de criação quanto a materialidade das obras e a relação do artista com seu próprio espaço e prática.
Tchaggo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Curitiba, Brazil, whose practice is grounded in close observation of everyday life and the transformation of these experiences into visual works. With a primary focus on illustration and canvas painting, the artist has developed a distinctive visual language marked by the recurring representation of hands, which have become a defining signature of his work. In his compositions, characters feature disproportionately large hands, used as a primary vehicle for expression and symbolic communication.
As a Black artist, Tchaggo demonstrates a strong commitment to the representation of racial diversity, thoughtfully exploring the wide spectrum of Black skin tones. His work reflects personal and cultural experiences while engaging in a broader dialogue that invites reflection on identity, otherness, and representation.
This photographic project aimed to document the artist’s workspace, capture elements of his creative process, and produce images of selected artworks for use across promotional materials, interviews, social media, and digital platforms. The visual approach combined wide, medium, and close-up shots to convey both the creative environment and the material qualities of the works, highlighting the relationship between the artist, his practice, and his studio space.
desafios e processo.
O projeto teve como principal desafio registrar o ambiente de trabalho do artista de forma autêntica, evitando intervenções externas e respeitando a dinâmica natural do espaço. A abordagem priorizou o uso da iluminação difusa e natural do ateliê, buscando criar imagens que transmitissem acolhimento, intimidade e proximidade com o processo criativo.
Outro aspecto central do trabalho foi a documentação do processo criativo em diferentes estágios — desde o desenvolvimento de novos esboços em tela ou em dispositivos digitais, como o iPad, até a finalização de pinturas e a seleção de obras já concluídas. O desafio consistiu em acompanhar esses momentos de forma orgânica, sem interferir no fluxo de criação, ao mesmo tempo em que se construía uma narrativa visual capaz de traduzir a linguagem do artista e a relação entre obra, espaço e gesto.
As imagens foram captadas com câmera Fujifilm X-T5, utilizando lentes 35mm e 85mm, explorando o controle da profundidade de campo, a leitura precisa dos volumes e a valorização dos detalhes. O processo de pós-produção foi realizado no Adobe Lightroom e Adobe Photoshop, com ajustes criteriosos de cor, contraste e exposição, além de tratamento refinado de texturas e padronização estética, garantindo consistência visual e coerência com o posicionamento artístico e comercial do projeto.
The main challenge of the project was to document the artist’s workspace in an authentic way, avoiding external interventions and respecting the natural dynamics of the environment. The approach prioritized the use of diffuse, natural light from the studio, aiming to create images that convey warmth, intimacy, and a close connection to the creative process.
Another central aspect of the work was documenting the creative process at different stages — from developing new sketches on canvas or digital devices such as the iPad, to finishing paintings and selecting completed works. The challenge was to follow these moments organically, without interrupting the artist’s workflow, while building a visual narrative capable of translating the artist’s language and the relationship between artwork, space, and gesture.
All images were captured using a Fujifilm X-T5, with 35mm and 85mm lenses, exploring controlled depth of field, precise volume rendering, and attention to detail. Post-production was carried out in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, with careful adjustments to color, contrast, and exposure, along with refined texture treatment and aesthetic standardization, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with the artistic and commercial positioning of the project.

O ensaio fotográfico resultou em um conjunto de imagens que articula linguagem autoral e precisão técnica, traduzindo de forma consistente o processo criativo e o espaço de trabalho do artista. A opção por fotografar sem intervenções, utilizando exclusivamente a luz natural e difusa do ambiente, permitiu preservar a atmosfera original do ateliê e estabelecer uma narrativa visual intimista, centrada nos gestos, nas texturas e na materialidade das obras. Os enquadramentos aproximados evidenciam o fazer artístico — especialmente o protagonismo das mãos — enquanto os planos mais abertos contextualizam a produção no espaço, reforçando a identidade visual do artista. O resultado é uma série de imagens versátil e coesa, adequada para aplicações editoriais, institucionais e comerciais, alinhada ao posicionamento contemporâneo e à construção de imagem profissional do artista.
The photographic project resulted in a cohesive body of images that combines an authorial approach with technical precision, consistently translating the artist’s creative process and workspace. The decision to photograph without interventions, relying exclusively on the natural and diffused light of the environment, allowed the preservation of the studio’s original atmosphere and the construction of an intimate visual narrative focused on gestures, textures, and the materiality of the works. Close-up compositions emphasize the artistic practice — particularly the central role of the hands — while wider shots contextualize the production within the space, reinforcing the artist’s visual identity. The outcome is a versatile and coherent image set, suitable for editorial, institutional, and commercial applications, aligned with the artist’s contemporary positioning and professional image-building strategy.
